- O.B office-ball or similar: 2
- Lion marker: 2
- 700N: 2
Steps
Step 1
Disassemble & strip the paint
OB: after taking it apart, keep only the front
S512: strip all the paint
Lion marker and 700N: remove roughly half of the body, counting from the back
Step 2
Lion marker & 700N:
This part is a little special: you need a fairly “blunt” pipe cutter
On the marker, counting from the back, press a deep groove at 1 cm and 2.35 cm before cutting, keeping the 1.35 cm middle section
On the 700N, counting from the back, press a deep groove at 1 cm and 3.7 cm before cutting, keeping the 2.7 cm middle section
After cutting
The narrowed edge is exactly what we want, so cut carefully
Step 3
S512: cut off the front along the line
Step 4
On one of the OB fronts, cut off the thread and thin it down slightly
Step 5
Once you have the materials shown, you can start assembling
Note: mind the direction when fitting the 700N and marker bodies
Step 6
Done
Step 7
Add whatever grips you like; a Signo grip cut in half is used here
Notes
You can trim the spare OB front so it’s closer to the original Comssa (recommended)
The OB front can also take an HGG tip, just like the Comssa
For a white body, use this highlighter
Sander PL-1800 (formerly sold as 亮彩螢光筆)
Its body is longer, so it needs to be cut shorter
And since it’s wider inside, the OB doesn’t need thinning
Instead, push one end straight in and add tape on the other end — keep this in mind
From the creator
Rather than the tutorial ending here, it’s really just the beginning
TWC is a platform for you to build on — choose your own weights and tips
You can even change where and in what proportion the two ends are cut, like one of the pens in my photo
You can also try recreating all kinds of personal Comssa mods on the TWC base
By the way, a Signo tip fits on the back end of the 700N tube
In other words, if you don’t cut off that extra 1 cm, you can fit Signo tips on both ends
Just for reference
I made this mod early in my pen spinning career (finished in 2007, tutorial in 2008)
Searching “TWC” on Google should still turn up plenty of old information
I made this updated version because the original SKB cap and all similar caps have been discontinued
So when I came back in 2023, I came up with this alternative
Using the narrowed edge from a not-so-sharp pipe cutter is a small trick I’m very happy with in this mod
It completely solves the problem of sharp cut edges ruining the feel
In an era full of long, heavy pens, this tutorial may seem like an outlier
But for spinners who want to work on table-top / VP-style spinning
having a Comssa or TWC at hand is a must
And I can say with confidence that TWC is definitely a better choice than the Comssa
That’s the shared conclusion of myself and quite a few spinners abroad after comparing the two
Everyone is welcome to try it — and veterans are welcome to come and reminisce
